Betfair Night Out/Month End

Its been a week or so since I last blogged so I thought I would put a quick post up as an update.

Firstly, the flashmob didnt get up and running tonight as we only had 9 players at the cut off time so it got cancelled, big shame, hope they keep going, and there were a few of the regulars missing. We had an impromptu flashmob game instead, old stylee, and got 9 out of 10 players in the game. I think I ended up about 5th or 6th after trying to push snap of a pot with 7 3 off. Anybody else I would not have been involved, and vice versa, anyone else snap may well have folded. Lesson learned. So if you are reading snap, I promise never try to nick your chips again okay? ;o)

Got a night out on Tuesday as part of the betfair forum council, got an email out of the blue from ruru at betfair asking if I would be interested in testing their upcoming new software. Looking forward to it a lot and to meeting the other 9 betfairers who are going. Some I have met before and some I have never heard of but they are all v good players, so I am not sure why I am going! I have to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so cant tell you how I get on with the testing but will report in on how the day went when I get back.

Monthly accounts are done and I am £123.44 up for the month putting me up to just over £1300 in the bank to play with. Good to get back to winning month.

Nasty Man!

Was playing a few £1 stts with my mate sav tonight and as I sat down at a table Robert174 sys out of the blue "cairns you are sh1te at this". Took me back a bit it did to say the least. I thought he must have been looking at my sharkscope stats and would obviously be a succesful players himself, heres his stats:

Robert174
373 games played
$-2 ave profit
$3 ave buy in
-69% ave ROI
$-989 Profit
LLLLLLLL Current Form

Apparently he has seen me play a few times and doesnt rate me. Well I'm no pro, but if I was ever losing nearly £600 I would consider jacking it all in. People in glasshouses shouldnt throw stones. He went out before me but I went out in 5th for no money, perhaps I am sh1te after all.

Betfairs Loss is My Gain

Betfair software was playing up last night (again), so loaded up the Sporting Odds software for some saturday night fun. Ended up only playing 3 stt's but managed to win all three. Two $10s and a $5. Now its not unusual to cash in three in a row but for me to win them outright is something I don't think I have done very often. Usually I end up playing "just one more game" and losing, but not last night - mainly due to being knackered and nodding off during the last of the three games.

Hopefully, the Betfair software will be okay tonight for the flashmob game as I need to avenge last weeks result when I bubbled (4th out of 21). My game seems suited to the flashmob games at the moment and a bit of luck just at the right time never does any harm (organisers priveledge). I have consistently finishing high up the positions recently. Look out for me going out first tonight then!

Still searching for the eight man for Team Flashmob, there have been plenty of volunteers, mostly, I guess, trying not to miss out on the action on what should be a great night/weekend in September. Plenty of time to get the last man (or indeed woman I suppose). Spiderman, Noonday Minstrel, Easter 1916, and whiteartlane are volunteers at the moment. I think waiting for the list of confirmed players at the main event might be the best bet.

Month End

March was a losing month for me overall, ending £19.12 down, with about £1200 in the bankroll its not such an issue. However, its only the 2nd ever losing month I have ever had and it doesnt feel good. Played too many MTTs I think so in April I will be back to the STT circuit in ernest.

Update on Team Flashmob for BFWCOP II; MC Roller cant make it and kfw has had a identity crisis and changed his name. Big shout to Smart Money who has offered to sponsor the team and provide the team kit, with names etc on it. Nice one. Steviep, UKGatsby, and Shalimah are all deffo not available, but I have had plenty of interest from elsewhere. Redcar if you are coming back for it then the 8th spot is obviously yours, just say the word. Latest team in no particular order is:

ajcairns
snap
Smart Money
boro_fc (aka kfw)
doob
dibble
MiltonBadley
+1

Having an STT fest today on PaddyPower and Betfair, playing anywhere from $3 to $20 6 and 10 seaters. Not going to bad at the mo.

Team Flashmob is Born

ajcairns
doob
snap
miltonbadley
smart money
kfw
mc roller
dibble

keep in touch guys and please let me know if you realise that you cant play.

Not taking anything away from the 8 gladiators above, but personally I wish steviep could play, along with redcar and ukgatsby. Hope you guys can make the main event and if we get some t-shirts made up you are more than welcome to wear one and be part of the team on the saturday if you are there.

Bubblemobbed

Bubbled in the flashmob this week which was a "quality not quantity" night with some decent non regular plays in the mix. The regulars managed to outlast them all and wp to MiltonBadley for the win, best you save the winnings for BFWCOP II my man.

Redcar came a v creditable 2nd and UKGatsby again in the money in 3rd (wp). He's getting good at this game.

See you all next week.

Flashmobbers of the World Unite

Right guys, its time the Flashmob kicked some butt.

Arrangements are being made for BFWCOP II which will take place about the 2nd weekend in September, so you have plenty of time to save up for it. Entry will probably be £100 + £10 which is usually way over my budget. However, I am going to save up and pay my own way this year after getting sponsored for the first event by the Total Poker crew.

Looks like there may be a team element to it so I am proposing we get a few of the regular flashmobbers together and take the world by storm. Let me know either here or on the Betfair forum if you would (or wouldnt) be interested.

Update:
Currently, me, Doob, KFW, Smart Money and MiltonBadley(harayir), snap and maybe MC Roller and StevieP have declared an interest in playing for the team. Anyone else?

Close but no Cigar at Cheltenham

Very poor Festival for me - with zero, yep, zero winners. Never happened before but perhaps its because I have not followed the season as much as I used too. I've missed a fair few of the big races in the build up which usual provide you with some of the critical information that you need to pick the winners at the festival. That said I have had a fair few places at some decent prices which has stopped me from completely doing my conkers and I've ended up about even!

Day 1
6 horses backed, 0 winners, 2 places (28/1, 14/1)
+4.5pts

Day 2
6 horses backed, +20 e/w doubles, 0 winners, 1 place (11/2)
-7.6pts

Day 3
8 horses backed, 0 winners, 4 places (8/1, 14/1, 5/1, 5/1)
-2.5pts

Day 4
6 horses backed, 0 winners, 3 places (16/1, 12/1, 10/1)
+6.5pt

The weekend again, Cheltenham and a diary

Back for the weekend again but next week I aint going back to work as I have to go for a course down in Hampshire for two days, then I'm off Wednesday afternoon until next week. Perfect timing as its the Cheltenham Festival, where I'll be visiting on Thursday with my mate Sav. If any of you reading this are going, give me a shout and you can buy me a Guinness if you like.

This weekend for a change I have decided to keep a complete record of all the games I play s this list will grow as the weekend progresses. The list will consist of game/position out of total players/profit or loss, so here goes:

Friday Evening
City AM Freeroll on Betfair - 114/116 = -£0
$10 stt on SO - 1/10 =+$39
$10 stt on Virgin - 3/10 = +$9

Saturday Morning
£2 mtt on Betfair - 16/84 = -£2.25
€3 mtt on Betfair - 13/37 = -€3.30

Saturday Afternoon
£5 stt on Will Hill - 8/10 = -£5.50
Saturday Freeroll on Will Hill - 334/1000 = -£0
£5 stt on Will Hill - 6/10 = -£5.50
$10 stt on SO - 2/10 = +$19

Saturday Evening
$10 stt on Virgin - 9/10 = -$11
$10 stt on Virgin - 2/10 = +$19
Saturday Night Freeroll on Bet365 - 8623/10000 = -$0
£5 stt on Betfair- 3/10 = +£4.50
£2 mtt on Betfair - 36/423 = +£2.83
£2 thunder mtt on Betfair - 514/514 ( ! ) = -£2.25
$10 mtt on Betfair - 33/97 = -$11
$10 stt on SO - 3/10 = +$9

SundayMorning
$10 stt on GoldenPlace - 4/9 = -$11
$10 stt on SO - 7/10 = -$11
$10 stt on SO - 7/10 = -$11

Sunday Afternoon
$10 stt on SO - 2/10 = +$19

Sunday Evening
£5 Flashmob mtt - 4/21 = -£5.50
PiggyPoints Freeroll on Betfair - 44/54 = -100 PiggyPoints

So that was a typical weekend of poker for me. +$59 -£18.17 -€3.30 and not forgetting - 100 piggypoints. A small profit overall.

Back midweek, catch up with everyone then.

No win in the flashmob, this week

Came a decentish 5th in the flashmob tonight despite knocking 3 out on the ft, finished off a good weekend at home, with the family and playing online. Won a few stt's (including a $20 one on Sporting Odds), so will have made a bit of a profit.

See you all next week.

Guess Who's Back and its time to bubble

Back again for the weekend - see you at the tables, and I will stay up later playing this weekend. Done the accounts for Feb and I was 210 up, another good month.

Its the Blue Square Bubble Freeroll on Sunday, so I better try and qualify so I can defend my title. Update: Just played the first 10c turbo 6 seater and won it (broke through the bubble with 6k in chips so went for the win), but managed to win it in 15 hands. Dam just looked and entries had to be in for 12 pm today, arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh.

Great End to the Weekend

Won the flashmob for £55, its not the money its the fact that you know you have beaten an assortment of the best small stakes poker players around on betfair that makes your night. Thanks for the donations all.

Well played to steviep as well in the sporting odds champions league, he is currently leading with one more game to play. Mate, if you are reading this, I have dropped enough hints so far, but my passport is waiting and my bags are packed, just say the word. Good luck on tuesday.

Got to sign off now as I am up for work in nearly five hours time. Good luck at the tables this week and see you at the weekend.

Patience is a Virtue

I mentioned this to dibble on the betfair forum. I have developed a real lack of patience this weekend since returning from work. Just playing a $2 mtt on betfair and had a fun last longer thing going verses dibble, I'm dealt 99 on the sb, 2nd pos raises 3xbb (cheeky sod), and he gets 2 (thats 2!) callers before it gets to me. I decided for some unknown reason to push all in for my last 2.6k in chips, the bb calls with A 10 (!) and the original raiser calls with AA, the rest fold. Needless to say no help on the flop and I'm out. There was absolutely no need. Something I need to sort out. Also bombed out the poker night live $10 mtt in about 10 hands. Not good.

Weekend Warrior

Back for my first weekend back from the new job and thought I would be raring to go on the poker front. Got in about 7 last night and had a couple of stt's and a mtt but nothing doing. Registered for the 2330 $320 freeroll on 32Red but couldn't be arsed to stay up for it and went to catch up with"other" things. ;o)

Got up early this morning and played a Partypoints freeroll and the €50 bonus on betfair but nothing doing there either.

Cashed in the Will Hill afternoon freeroll but only for a quid or so, also increased that account by playing pl cash at the same time, hitting some great flops to make a small profit. Entered a $2 stt on blue sq which I busted out with KK v JJ when the Js hit two more on the flop, messy.

Bet365 freeroll tonight and maybe a couple of stt's and an mtt if I can find an appropriate one to play - I have found I perform best in 30 - 100 player mtts for some reason, dont know why, but that is the way.

My heart is not really in it at the moment but I am sure the feeling will return.

Got a new link on the left - flashmobber dibble has entered the world of the blog. Give it a read, he's a decent sort who is more than willing to donate in the flashmob game regularly, keep it up diiiiiiiiiiiiiiible.

24 Hours From Norfolk

Back from a week visiting relatives, with NO poker! Neither of the households we went to stay with had an internet connection, my god, how do these people live?

Back now, but only until 6pm Sunday evening when I have to leave to start my new job in Norfolk. I will be staying up there during the week and will be back at the weekends to play a bit online and oh yes, see the family.

Anyway, time is short and there is lots of poker to play. Laters

A Quiet Week

Nothing to report this week I'm afraid. Came last in the flashmob, after going out on what I think was the 2nd hand with KK getting screwed by Emzo's AA. Bit of a recurring theme actually as I have been getting beat with an overpair to the board by a higher pair. Same happened in the 3k gtd on betfair on saturday night.

Entered the Partypoker 50k freeroll tonight, lasted until after the 2nd break when I hit top pair on the flop (Js) up against the big stack of the table. I only had about 4k left and the average was about 7k at the time so after checking the flop (bit dangerous I know) and nothing else of note coming out I stuffed them all in, for the big stack to turn over AA. Not much you can do about that.

Away all week and internetless probably so wont be playing much poker this week. Maybe the rest will be good.

Oh What A Night

And not in late December back in '63...

Tonight was the night, and a very busy one at that. Now sundays are normally a busy night, and tonight was no exception. I'll try and keep it brief.

$5+50c Virgin Booty started at 7:30 as did the Blue Square $1000 Bubble tournament. 46 entries in the Booty so top 5 payout plus added virgin air miles which I already have 6020 of so I was very interested in this one. Good, solid start and was going well.

As for the bubble, this is a monthly tournament that you have to apply to enter when you have bubbled in one of Blue Squares scheduled buy in tournaments. Me being me, purposely bubbled (first time) in a 10c six seater stt, so I'm in a field of 99 for the mtt. Struggled for much of the early rounds and was even all in for about 4k in chips, hitting on the river to stay in and double through. I blame my poor performance on concentrating on the Virgin Booty.

Back to Virgin, and I'm down to the ft and eventually go out in 8th, which doesnt exactly please me, but hey ho, back to Blue Square.

We also had the added complication of another mtt starting on poker.co.uk, a magazine promotion for $1000 with only 72 entrants, you have got to be in it to win it.

Also at 8:30 the weekly Flashmob game starts, but I am otherwise engaged with the Virgin and Blue Square games and only make the ft and limp out in 10th out of 21, sitting out most of the game really.

Ah yes, back to the Bubble, down to the final table and in the money and eventually down to the last 4, a long battle ensued, once 4th had gone, I was soon heads up against a maniac who was willing to raise with anything. Didnt last long and I was the winner when my KQ beat his 10 7 (!). A tidy $320 in the bank, which is just about a pb for me.

Back to poker.co.uk, and to cut a long story short I ironically went out in 11th on the bubble.

Also played another mtt on 32Red but didnt last to long when my AA was cracked by 67 sooted after about half an hour.

A very busy night, one good result but could have been even more, but very happy.

A Mixed Start to Feb

As the title says I have made a mixed start to February. I lost most of my $25 stack on Sporting Odds PL Cash earlier tonight, but then entered the excellent value Dollar Up ($1 to enter $500 added and has about 150 players) and managed 5th for $44. The guys on the punterslounge.com use this as their monthly league competition so thats me in the lead after the 1st round.

A Grand In Your Hand

End of month accounts are complete and I am through the £1000 barrier. £99.38 profit for the month (plus 6020 Virgin air miles, lol) get me up to £1013.17 total in the bankroll spread relatively evenly over all the clients. Biggest winning site of the month was Virgin, but I hear they have sadly opted to sponsor some bloke called Pomroy instead, ah well, good luck Dave.

I didnt publish my New Year Poker ambitions for 2006, but one of them was to play poker on TV. I entered the pokernight live MTT tonight through 32Red, but busted out about 40 minutes before the broadcast began. Guess its not to be yet.
